Bullet Journal (BuJo) is a system of organization and planning that combines a traditional diary, to-do lists, and a planner into one — the so-called Bullet Journal. Its simplicity and flexibility have made it a phenomenon among people looking for effective ways to boost their productivity and organization.

A Brief History of the Bullet Journal
In 2013, Ryder Carroll introduced the Bullet Journal as a method that helped him manage his daily life while keeping his creative processes flowing. Originally created for personal use, it quickly became popular among fans of paper diaries and organizers.
Basic Principles of the Bullet Journal
Index
The Bullet Journal starts with an index, which works like a table of contents for your journal. Here, you record pages with important information so you can easily find them later. At the beginning of the journal, it's also common to include the symbols and notations you’ll use throughout the pages. Think of it like a map legend — once you know what the symbols mean, navigating the journal becomes effortless. :)
Future Log
The Future Log is for planning long-term goals, events, and deadlines. It can include monthly or yearly overviews.
Monthly Log
The Monthly Log is where you plan your goals and events for the month. You can also create a to-do list of tasks you want to complete during the month.
Daily Log
The Daily Log is the core of the Bullet Journal. Here, you write down your daily tasks, to-dos, events, and other important notes.
Symbols and Notations
BuJo uses simple symbols to mark tasks, events, and notes. These include:
“•” for a task
“x” for a completed task
“>” for a migrated (postponed) task
“<” for an event
“–” for a note

Flexibility and Personalization
One of the key features of the Bullet Journal is its flexibility and ability to adapt to your individual needs. You can add new sections, modify existing ones, and experiment with different layouts to suit your style and way of life. How your Bullet Journal looks is entirely up to you — create, plan, color, and make it work for you. :)
How to Start a Bullet Journal
Choose a Suitable Notebook or Journal
You can start your BuJo with any blank notebook or journal. The important thing is that it’s spacious enough and has enough pages. However, if you want to keep a proper BuJo, it’s recommended to use a notebook designed for this purpose — or better yet, just get a Bullet Journal. :)
Create the Basic Structure
Start with the Index, Future Log, Monthly Log, and Daily Log. These sections will help keep your entries organized and easy to access. It’s really important to decide at the beginning how you want to manage your BuJo and stick to it. This will give your journal structure and keep you organized. :) Of course, it’s normal if it doesn’t go perfectly the first time — that’s okay! Try things out and discover your personal style.
Experiment and Adjust
Don’t be afraid to try different formats, symbols, and layouts. The Bullet Journal is a flexible tool meant to be adapted to your needs and preferences. Over time, you might discover methods and techniques that work better for you, and you’ll start to stick with those. There’s no wrong way. :)
Be Patient
Starting with a Bullet Journal can be a bit confusing, but be patient and give yourself time to find your own system. With practice, you’ll become more efficient and better organized.

The Bullet Journal was in the making at Be Nice for over a year. We played with the idea, learned from you—our customers—who already use BuJo at markets and events. The growing number of questions like, “Do you have a Bullet Journal?” made us realize it was time. :) Behind everything we do is a lot of learning, and we want to stand 100% behind our product, so it was important for us to fully understand the core principles before diving into creating it. :)
Well, a few years later, here we are, with not one but two Bullet Journals. :) The inside layouts are the same, but the covers are quite different — one is for those of you who love simplicity: sleek black. The other is for those who enjoy color. We’re curious to see how your personalities will shine through each. :)
The BuJo pages are made from high-quality recycled paper that doesn’t bleed through. You can freely write, draw, and stick things in. You can also complement your BuJo with various writing tools and stickers available from us.
A handy feature is the elastic band that keeps your BuJo securely closed, plus two small ribbons to mark the pages you’re currently on. :) We think you’ll also appreciate the paper pocket for stickers and little notes.
We produced our BuJo in a family-run printing house in Jesenice near Prague, and we were personally involved in every step of the production.
We truly believe you’ll love creating beautiful things in our Bullet Journals. :)
